If you were questioning whether or not Kid Rock was going to tone down his act now that he’s possibly running for a Michigan Senate seat, he just gave you your answer — and he did it in the form of a prayer.
In a rather unforgettable (and somewhat coarse) invocation before a Wednesday concert at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mr. Rock — real name Robert Ritchie — went off on the KKK, deadbeat dads, those who would refuse to stand for the national anthem and the Black Lives Matter movement.
According to MLive, Kid Rock was introduced as “the next senator of Michigan” as “Hail to the Chief” played in the background. Then, he launched into a three-minute address to the audience.
“If you want to take a knee or sit during our ‘Star-Spangled Banner:’ Call me a racist ’cause I’m not PC and think you have to remind me that Black Lives Matter,” he began. “Nazis, f***ing bigots, and now again the KKK, screw all you a*******, stay the f*** away.”
“It’s no secret we’re divided, and we all should take some blame,” Kid Rock continued.
“We should be ashamed that we all seem scared to call him by his name. So please, almighty Jesus, be looking down tonight. Please, God, give us wisdom and give us strength to fight, to fight … lurking evils and tyrants here and abroad and remind us all, we are still just one nation under God.”
Kid Rock then transitioned into his 2002 song “You Never Met a M*********** Quite Like Me.” Yes, I would definitely concur.
Here’s a link to the speech, although we warn you that it’s got unbleeped profanity. Consider yourself duly warned that it’s not work safe.
Was his speech/prayer slightly vulgar? Sure. But here was a man who knew who we need to turn to in order to make our nation whole again: God. Do you think you’re going to hear Debbie Stabenow say that? Or any Democrat?
Yes, Kid Rock may not be your conventional politician. But who’s really more in tune with the people of Michigan: Mr. Rock, or Debbie Stabenow, a woman who’s socially liberal and fiscally globalist? You may have never met a politician quite like him, but that doesn’t mean he won’t end up in Washington.
