Rep. Trey Gowdy made a cryptic suggestion about the FBI’s investigation into former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that suggested there were more “entanglements” with the Department of Justice and the Clintons than most Americans may realize.
Appearing in an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Tuesday night, the South Carolina congressman suggested that former FBI Director James Comey’s decision to hold a news conference last July regarding the Hillary Clinton email investigation was in response to the meeting between former President Bill Clinton and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch on an airport tarmac in Arizona just days before.
Gowdy said that the general public knew that Lynch met with Clinton, but added that Comey has access to other classified information that the public does not — and may never — know.
MacCullum attempted to pin Gowdy down on exactly what he meant, and asked him if he was suggesting the former director had no choice.
“No, I think he had access to information and he wanted to safeguard the integrity of the investigation, and the integrity of the process, and I probably just ought to leave it right there,” he told her, adding that he thought Comey wanted the public to have confidence in the investigation as well as the outcome.
Gowdy also told Maccullum that knowing what he did know, Comey made the only decision he could have made.
“I only take away from that that you are suggesting that there were more entanglements between the Clintons and perhaps the Justice Department than everyone understands,” McCallum said.
“You’re very perceptive,” Gowdy replied.

It wouldn’t be surprising to know that there was collusion between the Clintons and Obama’s Department of Justice. If that’s true, something needs to be done about it.
