Even as President Donald Trump was still delivering his first address to the United Nations, critics and supporters alike offered their take on his speech.

Among the first world leaders to offer praise for Trump’s anti-socialist rhetoric and hard-line stance against North Korean provocation was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a pair of tweets Tuesday morning, Netanyahu described his U.S. counterpart’s speech as the most “courageous” address he has ever heard delivered to the U.N.

Netanyahu’s support came a day after he met with Trump at the 72nd session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York City, where the two discussed the Obama administration-backed Iranian nuclear deal, which both leaders oppose.

One of the more notable issues Trump talked about in his address Tuesday was the ongoing threat posed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“North Korea’s reckless pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles threatens the entire world with unthinkable loss of human life,” he said.

Trump went on to assert that the U.S. would be left with “no choice but to totally destroy North Korea” if the regime threatens America or any of its allies.

“Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and his regime,” Trump said, recalling his recently coined nickname for Kim.

Trump also addressed socialism during a segment of his speech focused on the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

“The problem in Venezuela is not that socialism has been poorly implemented but that socialism has been faithfully implemented,” he said, receiving a mixed reaction from the U.N. leaders in attendance and those watching his remarks around the world.

While the reaction to the address was mixed, Netanyahu was hardly the only leader with close ties to the U.N. to endorse Trump’s first speech to the general assembly.

Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton called it “an outstanding speech” he believes will “serve the president very well.”
