Trump to Consider Releasing Tax Returns Once He Leaves Office

President Donald Trump’s tax returns have been a lightning rod for liberals since he began campaigning for president and bucked tradition by refusing to release his tax returns, arguing that he wouldn’t because he was under audit by the IRS.

Since he won in the election in November, liberals have tried to keep the issue alive, but Trump hasn’t backed down.

He addressed the issue again in an interview with editors from The Economist published this week, and just infuriated the liberals even more.

The Economist asked if Trump was open to a deal: “If you do need Democratic support for your tax plan, your ideal tax plan, and the price of that, the Democrats say, is for you to release your tax returns, would you do that?”

The answer was classic Trump.

“I don’t know,” the president said. “That’s a very interesting question. I doubt it. I doubt it. Because they’re not going to … nobody cares about my tax return except for the reporters.

“Oh, at some point I’ll release them. Maybe I’ll release them after I’m finished because I’m very proud of them actually. I did a good job,” he said.

“I might release them after I’m out of office,” he added.

Trump certainly knows how to needle the media and Democrats who have been obsessing over his tax returns for months now. By waiting until he was out of office to release them, Trump really would infuriate liberals.

While Trump says he won’t release his tax returns because he is under audit, the IRS has stated Trump could release them if he chose to.

Trump certainly would be saving himself a lot of headaches if he would just release the tax returns to show everyone there is nothing suspicious in them.

But, Trump will be Trump. He’s known what the American do and do not care about for years, and he knows that it’s his job performance in the White House that really matters now.
