Tim Tebow just thrust another dagger into the theory that his hot start with the St. Lucie Mets has been a fluke.
With St. Lucie deadlocked at 4-4 with the Daytona Tortugas in the seventh and final inning of the second leg of a doubleheader, the quarterback-turned-outfielder did what he has so often in his sports career:
He rose to the occasion.
On the very first pitch of the at-bat, Tebow connected on a solo home run to opposite field to win the game for St. Lucie in walk-off fashion.

The blast was Tebow’s third during his short stint with the New York Mets’ High-A affiliate. Since his promotion nearly three weeks ago, Tebow has led the team with a .326 batting average.
By collecting hits in both games of Thursday’s doubleheader, Tebow stretched his hit streak to 11 consecutive games.

Tebow’s impressive performance in Florida has sparked speculation that another quick promotion could be coming down the pipeline. If that happens, it’s likely his next stop would be the Mets’ AA affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
