The Second Amendment exists to guarantee Americans the right of self-defense — without depending on the government. By owning firearms, Americans can protect themselves and their families when evil strikes.
A lady in Texas reminded the country why you should never mess with any Texan after she shot and killed one of two armed men who broke into her home near Houston about 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to KHOU.
The 60-year-old woman, who was not named, confronted the intruders inside the dwelling, the station reported. When the woman fired, the men fled.
One of the men died on the woman’s front lawn, while the other managed to hop a fence and is on the run. It is unclear if the man who escaped was injured.
This woman would well be alive today because of the Second Amendment. Men who break into your home with guns probably aren’t going to be too kind to whoever they find inside.
“Both were armed with pistols. She confronted both suspects, retrieved a handgun and fired several times at both subjects,” Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Gilliland told the station.
According to KTRK, some residents of the neighborhood were upset that this had happened, and that they would be keeping their eyes peeled in the future for any other robbers — and that could make life difficult for criminals who are thinking of trying their luck.
Few states take firearms freedoms as seriously as the Lone Star State. If you’re a criminal and you break into someone’s home in Texas, you really are putting your life in their hands. There’s a reason people say “don’t mess with Texas.” These two robbers learned that lesson the hard way.
One of the woman’s neighbors summed up the entire incident beautifully.
“It’s the state of Texas, if you’re going to go into someone’s home, you’re going to get shot,” explained neighbor Cathy Hanks. “That’s really how we are. That’s just Texas.”
