When “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert returned from vacation this Thursday, it didn’t long before he again began smearing President Donald Trump. Except this time he took it to a sickening new level by throwing up several Nazi salutes in mockery of our president.
He thrust out his arm several times after highlighting a recent interview between “60 Minutes” host Charlie Rose and former White House strategist Steve Bannon.
During the interview, Bannon revealed how he stood up for the president after Trump blamed “many sides” for the horrendous violence that had broken out at the “Unite the Right” rally last month in Charlottesville, Virginia. White supremacists duked it out with violent leftist thugs during the Aug. 12 confrontation, and one white supremacist plowed a car into a crowd of protesters, killing a young woman
“By the way, after the Charlottesville situation, I was the only guy that came out and tried to defend him,” Bannon told Rose. “I was the only guy that said, ‘He’s talking about something that’s … taking it up to a higher level.’”
He was right. The president’s willingness to be honest about what really happened in Charlottesville helped trigger the start of an important conversation about left-wing violence in America.
Being as Colbert is among those hardcore leftists who refuse to be intellectually honesty about what really happened in Charlottesville, he, of course, disagreed.
“Yeah, he’s definitely taking it to a higher level, I’d say his support is about up there — right around here,” he sarcastically said Thursday, raising his hand in the Nazi salute. “Or over here. Somewhere up there.”
Watch and listen:
Colbert had been trying to imply that the president’s condemnation of “many sides” amounted to a tacit endorsement of white supremacy. To be clear, Colbert isn’t the only hack who’s issued this kind of claim. Following the president’s response to the Charlottesville incident, the national and international media spent weeks saying the same.
But it’s all lies and has been from day one, as was brilliantly articulated last month by syndicated columnist Star Parker.
“Being honest about this does not justify the vile white supremacist violence and murder in Charlottesville,” Parker wrote. “But to claim that these distorted individuals are the exclusive locus of bigotry in America does not help our cause.”
Correct. What’s sad though is that because Parker is willing to be honest about bigotry and and hatred in America, Colbert would likely insinuate she’s a Nazi as well — never mind the fact that she’s black.
