Democrats and the mainstream media have had a field day since news broke that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during last year’s transition period.
Those conversations did not entail any level of colluding with Russian intelligence to try and swing the election, as failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would have everyone believe.
Nonetheless, Flynn obviously should not have lied to investigators.
His “crime” is hardly anything to be celebrating, yet the left is reacting as if the news is some sort of major breakthrough in Mueller’s investigation.
As of yet, we do not have any proof of that.
In fact, we have quite the opposite.
On Jan. 13, 2017 during a press briefing, State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the department did not see anything wrong with members of the incoming administration contacting foreign officials.
Toner was responding to a reporter’s question specifically about then-incoming Flynn and then-Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.
The Washington Examiner reported that Flynn called Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak on the day that former President Barack Obama announced sanctions against Russia for the “cyberattacks and leaks of Democratic documents during the 2016 presidential election.”

If there were evidence of some sort of improper quid pro quo being negotiated, we would have already heard about that. However, since we haven’t heard anything of the sort, we can assume there is simply no evidence.
Furthermore, Obama’s representatives met with foreign leaders, as reported by The Hill.
What’s good for the goose is good for gander — unless you’re a Democrat on a witch-hunt.
And we can certainly call this special investigation a witch-hunt.
If, after one year, the best Mueller can come up with is Flynn lying to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador, then it may be time to move on.
