If you’re going to reenlist in the armed services, I suppose it helps to do it in an awesome way. After all, you’re taking an oath to your nation and your fellow soldiers, so why not celebrate in the most amazing way possible?
In fact, the way these two Army soldiers reenlisted was so awesome that it literally had one of them shaking as his right hand was raised. That’s because they did it on the Terror-dactyl, a theme park ride in the state of Colorado.
The clip has been going viral in a major way, with almost a million views in just a few weeks. And once you see the vertiginous footage of these two soldiers taking the ride, you can see why.
The website of The Cave of the Winds noted that the Terror-dactyl is “(t)he first of its kind anywhere in the world” and that “this ride sits on the edge of a 200-foot cliff in Williams Canyon in Manitou Springs.
“Those brave enough to ride will be launched 200 feet into the canyon at nearly 100 miles per hour! The G-forces on this ride will knock you silly and the free-fall drop will have you laughing and praying for your life at the same time!”
That sounds like quite the ride. William Laybourne and Derek Rettig would likely agree.
According to WRDO-TV, Laybourne and Rettig are with the 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. They decided that the Terror-dactyl was the perfect place to take their oath for another tour of duty.
Here’s what happened next:
We salute Laybourne and Rettig and all they do for our country. We’re glad they were able to make their reenlistment as epic — and as viral — as it could be.
