White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders jokingly celebrated on Twitter the news that CNN plans to boycott this year’s White House Christmas party for the media.
Retweeting a Politico story detailing the cable network’s plans, Sanders said: “Christmas comes early! Finally, good news from @CNN.”

According to the report, amid an ongoing feud with President Donald Trump, CNN says it would be “inappropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests.”
“In light of the President’s continued attacks on freedom of the press and CNN, we do not feel it is appropriate to celebrate with him as his invited guests. We will send a White House reporting team to the event and report on it if news warrants,” a spokesperson for the network said.
Trump recently said CNN International represents “our Nation to the WORLD very poorly.”
“We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me),” Trump also tweeted. “They are all bad. Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!”
CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter responded to the president, claiming Trump was once again “assaulting the free press.”
