A reporter who felt it necessary to insult a White House staffer said he did so because he was tired of being bullied.
Brian Karem, executive editor of the Montgomery County (Md.) Sentinel, appeared on CNN’s “New Day” to discuss why he felt compelled to accuse Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for inflaming the media for calling them out for often publishing false stories about President Donald Trump or his administration.
His reason was simple — if misguided.
“I don’t like bullies,” Karem said. “I’ve been tired of being bullied. I’ve been tired of being blamed. I’ve been called an enemy of the people. I’ve been told we’re all fake media.”
But Karem is blaming the messenger. There’s a reason why this is happening, and it isn’t because Huckabee, the president or anyone else is a bully — it’s because the mainstream media, on a regular basis attempts, to publish fake news about the president and get away with it.
There’s nothing wrong with calling out the media for not doing their job.
Karem also claimed that the accusation that CNN and others are publishing fake news is driving a wedge between the media and the public.
This is laughable. The wedge that exists between the public and the liberal media was put there by those in the media, whom the public feels it cannot trust.
This is not simply a matter of the president or Sanders calling the mainstream media biased, which it is. It’s more a matter of the liberal media attempting to mislead the public for more than a year about the candidacy, then presidency, of Donald Trump.
Liberals always want to play the victim when they are confronted with reality because they don’t know how to do much else.
Below is the exchange between Karem and Sanders that went viral:
And here’s Karem’s appearance on “New Day.”
Just for the self-pitying whine factor, that’s a tough six minutes to beat. And it sums up just how out of touch so much of the mainstream media really is.
Sanders handled Karem well, and pretty much any honest person who watches that video will admit it.
If he and his fellow guests on “New Day” think the media are suffering unfairly because they are being challenged for peddling fake news, maybe they should get into another business that doesn’t require integrity to get the job done.
Or, they could just report the facts
