Americans across the country were disgusted and disheartened when a San Francisco jury came to a “not guilty” verdict Thursday in the trial of Kate Steinle killer and illegal immigrant Jose Garcia Zarate.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was among those upset about the outcome of the case, issuing an absolutely scathing statement about it and how we should prevent similar incidents in the future.
“Yesterday’s verdict in San Francisco underscores the danger to public safety when our Nation fails to enforce its laws,” Sanders said in a statement Friday, according to the Washington Examiner.
Sanders pointed out that not only was Garcia Zarate in the United States illegally, but he was also a convicted felon who had been deported five times.
“He, and countless other criminal illegal immigrants like him, should never be allowed to threaten our citizens,” Sanders contended.
She then emphatically called on lawmakers to address the many issues surrounding illegal immigration, such as border security, law enforcement and sanctuary cities.
“It’s more important now than ever for Congress to secure our borders and provide the resources, including more ICE officers, needed to deport criminal illegal aliens and to finally stop sanctuary city policies that cause needless loss of innocent life,” Sanders’ statement said.
Lawmakers who refuse to do so should be held accountable when innocent American citizens like Steinle are harmed by illegal immigrants.
“Politicians who fail to address these needs share responsibility for preventable crimes committed against innocent Americans,” Sanders’ statement said.
She concluded by dropping a massive truth bomb on California officials who essentially paved the way for Steinle’s murder with their “sanctuary city” policies.
Garcia Zarate shot and killed Steinle while she was walking with her family on a pier in July of 2015. The killer had been recently released by the San Francisco county jail, despite requests by federal agents for him to be detained and eventually deported, according to The Daily Caller.
“Had San Francisco enforced our nation’s immigration laws, the Steinle family would be celebrating this holiday with all of their loved ones,” Sanders’ statement contended.
President Donald Trump echoed the press secretary’s sentiments on Twitter, calling the verdict a “complete travesty of justice.”
The Kate Steinle killer came back and back over the weakly protected Obama border, always committing crimes and being violent, and yet this info was not used in court. His exoneration is a complete travesty of justice. BUILD THE WALL!

The Trump administration is right. This verdict only underscores why it’s so important that we secure our borders and put an end to sanctuary cities, once and for all.
