RNC Reverses Course, Comes Running to Help Moore Win

RNC Reverses Course Comes Running to Help Moore Win

Following President Donald Trump’s public endorsement Monday morning of Alabama senatorial candidate Roy Moore, the Republican National Committee abruptly reversed its November decision to drop its support for Moore, making it clear in a statement it intends to trust the president’s judgment.

“We stand with the president,” a senior RNC official pithily said to Breitbart.

Breitbart noted that the RNC informed its members from Alabama sometime Monday afternoon, hours after Trump announced his endorsement, that “the national party would resume financial support to back the state party in its efforts to elect Moore to the U.S. Senate.”

Given both the timing of the announcement and what the unnamed RNC official said to Breitbart, it seems fairly obvious that the reversal was prompted solely by Trump’s Twitter endorsement, which may be seen below:

Nothing else would explain the RNC’s unexpected reversal, especially given that the slew of sexual harassment/abuse allegations that were lodged against Moore last month still remain at play, with his accusers continuing to allege he had mistreated them decades earlier.

To be fair, some of the allegations have come under intense scrutiny in the past couple weeks due to glaring inconsistencies.

Just last week, for instance, Conservative Tribune noted how one of his accusers had failed to disclose that Moore had previously sentenced her criminal brother to prison 35 years ago. The mainstream media had likewise completely failed to mention this.

“The news media seemingly failed to vet (accuser Faye) Gary, with numerous articles and the MSNBC interview not mentioning that Moore was the prosecutor in an 1982 high profile case that sent her brother, Jimmy Wright, to prison on charges of possession of a controlled substance,” Breitbart noted at the time.

According to Breitbart’s latest report — the one on the RNC — the National Republican Senatorial Committee continues to withhold its support for Moore.

Reportedly controlled by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, the NRSC has been exceedingly open in its opposition to Moore.

So have a number of leading GOP congressman, including Sen. Ben Sasse, who took to Twitter on Monday to slam the RNC for its reversal and vow that he would drop out of the NRSC if it were to follow suit:

Despite all this opposition, as of Thursday morning the polling averages at RealClearPolitics showed Moore continuing to lead his Democratic opponent, Doug Jones, by 2.3 points.

Apparently, a majority of Alabamans disagree with the likes of Moore haters such as McConnell and Sasse.
