Report: Meghan McCain In Talks To Co-Host Daytime Talk Show

Report Meghan McCain In Talks To Co-Host Daytime Talk Show

Soon after Jedediah Bila, the only conservative co-host of The View, announced Monday she would be leaving the show, news broke the show’s producers were already in talks to recruit Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., to replace her.

“A deal to bring McCain on at The View has not yet been completed … but is in late stages,” CNN reported at 12:39 p.m., less than an hour after Monday’s episode of The View had concluded, citing three unnamed sources.

The report came only days after McCain announced her departure from Fox News, where she had served as a regular co-host on Outnumbered, a daytime talk show hosted by four regular female panelists and one male guest.

Her departure from Fox came amid her father’s continued battle with brain cancer.

“The cruelest enemy could not break him,” she had said in a statement in July. “The aggression of political life could not bend him. So he is meeting this challenge as he has every other. Cancer may afflict him in many ways: but it will not make him surrender. Nothing ever has.”

While Meghan McCain didn’t cite any specific reason for her decision to leave Outnumbered, save for her interest in focusing on “other things,” some suspected that her departure had been rooted in a desire to spend more time with her father.

It remains unclear why Bila left The View. Though a source told Page Six she “left on her own accord,” the source also seemed to suggest she left because the show’s staff were upset with her for asking defeated Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton tough questions during an appearance on the show last week.

“There was a lot of staff who were upset about how that interview was handled,” the source said. “They had a lot to say to Jedediah about calming things down.”

Moreover, the Washington Free Beacon noted that roughly 10 minutes after Page Six’s report went live, Bila posted a video clip from her exchange with Clinton:

But Meghan McCain has also taken a tough stance on Clinton.

During a May airing of Outnumbered, McCain made it clear she found Clinton’s post-election behavior to be “deeply unpatriotic and quite pathetic.”
