Publisher Withdraws Book on Clintons Faith After Plagiarism Accusation Emerge

According to new reports by CNN, the Hillary Clinton-inspired book, written by her pastor, was withdrawn after speculations of plagiarism broke.

Rev. Bill Shillady, stated in regards to the book, “Strong for a Moment Like This: The Daily Devotions of Hillary Rodham Clinton,” was inspired by Clinton’s email affair, which ultimately cost her the presidency.Clinton has not only featured the book’s cover but also wrote her own intro.

The book had its debut in August, but CNN managed to find that Shillady stole a piece of a devotional from another pastor and used it in his book. The priest who originally wrote the section was Rev. Brian Milford, who is also president of The United Methodist Publishing House, and owner of Abingdon Press. Now, the book will be subjected to closer inspection.

Milford gave a statement to CNN, stating Abingdon Press was “alarmed to discover other content unattributed by the author.”

“Abingdon Press has zero tolerance for plagiarism. Consequently, we have discontinued sales, will remove existing copies from all sales outlets and will have them destroyed along with our existing inventory,” Milford said.

“I deeply regret my actions,” Shillady explained later.told CNN,

“I was wrong and there is no excuse for it,” Shillady said. “I apologize to those whose work I mistakenly did not attribute. I apologize to those I have disappointed, including Secretary Hillary Clinton, Abingdon Press, and all the writers and others who have helped me publish and promote this book. I ask for everyone’s forgiveness.”

All writers affected by the copyright violation will be contacted by Abingdon Press.
