President Trump has reportedly contacted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones by phone and suggested he and his team should give the national anthem the respect it deserves.
During the phone call, Trump asked that Jones reads the NFL operations manual and learn how to properly behave before, during, and after a game.
This is related to the part in the NFL manual that says that all players must be standing while the national anthem is playing. This is a clear disobedience of the rulebook that could now cause the NFL serious troubles. The League suffered already due to weak ratings and ticket sale drops.
“This could have all been resolved,” Trump told Jones.
Jerry Jones said part of his phone conversation recently with President Donald Trump was Trump telling him about an NFL policy in game operational manual that dictates players stand for the national anthem. Jones said that Trump said, “This could have all been resolved.”

The President was speaking the truth after all, but no one was willing to listen. It seems as though Trump was right.
An NFL spokesperson recently gave a statement in an effort to clear things up:
“The national anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the national anthem. During the national anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition,” an NFL spokesperson told Sports Illustrated.
“It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the national anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses,” the spokesperson explained.
Jones took Trump’s appeal quite seriously and vowed to sanction each player that decides not to stand for the national anthem. He even stated suspensions were in play.
“If there’s anything that is disrespectful to the flag, then we will not play,” Jones said on Sunday after the Cowboys-Green Bay Packers game.
Jones responded to questions regarding Vice President Mike Pence’s dramatic exit after over 20 San Francisco 49ers dropped to the knee as the anthem was playing.
The entire NFL drama was first introduced by Colin Kaepernick who refused to stand during the national anthem last year. This cost the NFL their image, prestige and the people’s respect. Sad, but it is the ugly truth.
