Piers Morgan Tweeted The STUPIDEST Thing Ever About NFL Kneelers

Seth Connell reports that after weeks of kneeling demonstrations during the pre-game ceremonies and singing of the national anthem, some teams have started to say that enough is enough, and are putting an end to the political statements that have alienated much of the NFL’s fan-base. The Miami Dolphins are the latest team to take action.

The team’s ead coach Adam Gase recently announced that he will not be tolerating players taking a knee during the national anthem. He said that if they do not want to stand, they can do it elsewhere.

According to Bleacher Report, Gase said that going forward, the entire team will be standing for the national anthem, and that anyone who has other ideas can just stay in the locker room.

“We’re standing for the national anthem,” head coach Adam Gase said Monday, per Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel. “If you don’t want to stand, stay in the locker room.”

“It doesn’t matter what I think. This is what we’re doing,” he added, via Kelly.

Three Dolphins players had been kneeling during the national anthem as part of the protest against racial injustice, via Darren Rovell of ESPN:

However, they were not allowed to replicate the activity during Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Julius Thomas, Kenny Stills and Michael Thomas stayed in the locker room before coming out after the ceremony.

After fans and businesses have pulled their support for the league following their demonstrations, apparently teams are being forced to respond. If they continue to engage in the demonstrations, it could really undercut the league’s revenue stream.

Any business knows that you cannot afford to alienate your core base, otherwise the entire thing collapses. The Dolphins are the latest team to realize this.

Additionally, the Dallas Cowboys owner also announced that he will not tolerate kneeling during the national anthem, as we reported early Monday morning.

“If there is anything disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period,” Jones said Sunday, according to the Dallas Morning News. “We’re going to respect the flag and I’m going to create the perception of it.”

He said unequivocally that his players were going to stand for the flag.

“We cannot in anyway give the implication that we tolerate disrespecting the flag. We know that there is a serious debate in this country about those issues, but there is no question in my mind, that the [NFL] and the Dallas Cowboys are going to stand up for the flag,” he said.

“But let me be real, real clear the thing that the National Football League needs to do and the Dallas Cowboys are going to do is stand for the flag. We’re going to do that. It’s the rules that are on the book in my opinion.”

Last month during a game with the Arizona Cardinals, the entire Cowboys team took a knee beforethe anthem, but stood for the playing itself of The Star-Spangled Banner.

The protests gained national attention after President Trump said that any player who disrespects the National Anthem or the American Flag should be “fired,” calling them a “son of a bitch.”

Will other teams follow? Maybe, if the fans keep the pressure on.
