As the New York Giants scored their first touchdown Sunday, the man behind the mission, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.faced a severe penalty. The reason for this was due to Beckham Jr.’s decision to salute the touchdown by simulating a dog urinating on the field.

As the kneeling wasn’t enough, he even raised his leg sideways.

In an era where the military service, the national flag, and anthem get trashed on daily basis by the NFL, this was simply a cherry on top of a very ugly cake.

It is only natural he would be sanctioned, since pulling a protest-like move in midst of existing crisis already, is unacceptable. The NFL never once laid out the guidelines of a decent behavior, so it seems anyone felt comfortable enough to pull whichever stunt came to mind.

The NFL failed America, it’s as simple as that.

“I was in the end zone. I scored a touchdown,” the player explained. “I’m a dog, so I acted like a dog.”

Lord, have mercy.

“I didn’t know if the rule book said you can’t hike your leg,” he added. “(The official) said I peed on somebody. So I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on, but I didn’t see him.

“But either way it goes, you play football. I wear red and white. I don’t wear black and white with stripes on it. I don’t make calls. I just play football,” he said.

The second touchdown came around the corner, and things were no different, while the message was clear as a whistle.

It wasn’t long after the African-Americans performed their ‘black salute’ as a support for Beckham Jr.’s behavior.

Aside from this incident, we also saw the Pittsburgh Steelers’ team who remained in their locker room as the national anthem was playing. Only one player had the courage to stand proudly and pay the anthem with the respect it deserves. Veteran Alejandro Villanueva stood next to his coach and separated himself from the rest of the team.

All NFL teams suffered hugely as a result of the rebellion, with fans torching their jerseys and swearing off their future loyalty.

Once President Trump addressed the happenings accordingly, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell condemned him, saying his comments were highly ‘divisive.’ I’m not sure, though, were they expecting us all to turn our backs to the country. Not likely, Mr. Goodell.
