Becoming a parent is one of the greatest joys of life, according to my own mother and the testimonies of thousands across the internet. But getting to that point can be full of trials and tribulations.
Pregnancy is a beautiful season of life, but some women’s bodies have a hard time keeping up.
Miscarriages are a common, tragic occurrence for many women across the world.
One Minnesota mom, Allyson Ponto, and her husband, Tony, had been trying for over a decade to become parents. In the four times they were successful, each of them ended in tragedy.
Each pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage.
Four unborn babies went to heaven without even getting the chance to meet their parents.
But the Pontos wouldn’t give up on their dream. They went through five rounds of intrauterine insemination, also known as IUI, but were unsuccessful each and every time.
Finally, after one attempt of in vitro fertilization, Allyson took the fateful — and probably dreaded, at this point — pregnancy test.
As you can imagine, she was overjoyed when she saw the two pink lines, signifying she was, indeed, pregnant again.
There were four heartbeats, not including her own. Four would soon become her new favorite number.
She was pregnant with quadruplets!
The four girls were born on July 4, 2017 by cesarean section.
Like I said earlier, four was going to become her favorite number.
Olivia Susan, Anna Louise, Morgan Price, and Carolyn Grace all weighed around two to three pounds each, and the happy new parents say the four are thriving. They have an army waiting for them at home, ready to help with the chaos of raising four babies at once.
