Editor’s Note: The story below was published after the tragic 2015 mass shooting in Charleston. We’re re-publishing it now because of how timely the topic is. As liberals attack gun rights, conservatives must remember the truth about what’s really behind most mass gun violence.
Virtually the entire country stood horrified yesterday as the extent of the depravity of the Charleston church shooter’s heinous crimes was revealed.
While most Americans tried to wrap their heads around the terrible atrocity, the usual suspects in the media and the White House immediately jumped at the opportunity to further perpetuate their anti-gun agenda, placing blame on the gun used to slaughter nine innocent people.
What the media failed to report — deliberately so, it would seem — is that there was one important commonality routinely seen in horrific mass shootings like these, and it isn’t the gun used by the murderer, but rather the drugs.
The Charleston shooter reportedly had a history of drug abuse, as well, and not just marijuana or even Xanax, but also a powerful narcotic known as Suboxone.
“He used drugs heavily a lot,” said John Mullins, a high school friend of Dylann Roof, the accused shooter. “It was obviously harder than marijuana. He was like a pill popper, from what I understood. Like Xanax and stuff like that.”
Suboxone is a narcotic used to treat individuals addicted to heroine, methadone, morphine and other powerful opioids.
Furthermore, Suboxone users have been known to suffer from a wide variety of nasty side effects, including things like extreme depression and dysphoria, depersonalization, confusion and anxiety, irritability, mood swings and “fear of going crazy,” all of which can become worse or amplified while the user is going through withdrawal, or if Suboxone is mixed with alcohol or other drugs.
To those who have taken the time to objectively study mass shootings and the sadistic individuals who commit them, it is “simply indisputable that most perpetrators of school shootings and similar mass murders in our modern era were either on — or just recently coming off of — psychiatric medications,” according to WND.
This information, which has been verified numerous times, has been conveniently overlooked by the media and politicians, along with the fact that most shootings happen in “gun free zones,” as this one did.
Neither facts fits into their anti-gun narrative and can’t be used to further their agenda of disarming the population.
There is no doubt that the Charleston shooter was a racist bigot, but one must wonder if the drugs he was taking may have pushed him over the edge from merely holding racist views to actually acting violently upon those views.
Unless the media actually does its job and digs deeper into this aspect of the story, we likely will never know for sure.
One thing we do know: the shooter, is the one who pulled the trigger and killed those people and should be held accountable for his actions, regardless of how illegal drugs might have been involved.
