Large Fight Breaks Out In Downtown San Francisco Mall

A large fight broke out at a popular mall in downtown San Francisco Sunday night, forcing a police lockdown of the facility.

A San Francisco police spokesman said that shortly before 7 p.m., calls starting coming into the station saying that a brawl had started, CBS San Francisco reported.

Multiple people captured the fight and the police response on social media.

At one point in the chaotic scene, items were thrown at officers as they arrived at the top of an escalator.

One person tweeted about taking refuge in a Nordstrom’s department store during the melee, while others found alternative exits to the mall.

After the brawlers were subdued, officers took up position outside of the mall while an investigation was conducted.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that one officer was injured and one juvenile had been taken into custody.

According to the Chronicle, the fight broke out after the Pride Parade in downtown San Francisco.

The upscale mall is located near Union Square, close to the financial district.
