Kimmel Sends Flunky to Heckle Moore So the Judge Issues a Surprise Challenge

An attempt by left-wing comedian Jimmy Kimmel to disrupt a church rally this week for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore backfired when the incensed candidate fired back on Twitter with a challenge he suspected Kimmel would never accept.

“@jimmykimmel If you want to mock our Christian values, come down here to Alabama and do it man to man,” Moore wrote, taking issue with Kimmel’s decision to try and humiliate him by sending one of his lackeys to mock him at the church.

According to The Birmingham News, the trouble began Wednesday evening outside the Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Theodore when comedian Tony Barbieri, known for playing the character Jake Byrd on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” started hassling Moore’s supporters.

Watch in the video below as, disguised as a fellow Moore supporter, Barbieri interrupts what appears to be a news interview between local media and an actual Moore supporter:

“Roy Moore may have been thrown out of Gadley (Gadsden) Mall but he’s gonna go to the National Mall,” Barbieri said, making fun of Moore over apparently groundless allegations that an Alabama shopping mall had once banned him for preying on young girls.

Once the actual rally commenced inside the church, Barbieri then aimed his disrespectful remarks directly at Moore, interrupting the candidate as he tried to speak to an audience of about 200 supporters.

“That’s a man’s man,” he yelled in mock defense of Moore. “Does that look like the face of a molester?”

Barbieri was eventually escorted out of the facility.

As news broke the following morning that Barbieri’s outlandish antics had been part of a comedic bit orchestrated by Kimmel, Moore tweeted a challenge to the comedian, slamming him for his disrespect:

What followed was a back-and-forth exchange that lasted roughly two hours:

While Kimmelappears to have gotten the last word, recent poll averages from RealClearPolitics suggest Moore will have the last laugh.

Moreover, Kimmel’s decision to inject himself in the Alabama special election will likely only serve to benefit Moore.

“(F)or Moore, it’s a way to bounce off of Kimmel’s hard-core leftism, and use Hollywood’s opposition as an excuse to vote for him,” noted Ben Shapiro of The Daily Wire.

While some Alabama conservatives were hesitant about voting for Moore over inconclusive allegations he engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with teenage girls decades ago, the recent mockery of their candidate and Alabama’s family values by Kimmel and other like-minded leftists may be just the catalyst needed to spur them into visiting the poll booth come Dec. 12.

Just so you know, the footage recorded by Barbieri was eventually aired by Kimmel Thursday evening. You may watch it here if you so desire, though I must warn you that it’s not even remotely funny.

But then, Jimmy Kimmel rarely is.
