On Wednesday musician Kid Rock seemingly announced plans to run for the U.S. Senate in 2018 in his home state of Michigan to unseat incumbent Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

In a tweet published that afternoon, the rocker, whose real name is Robert James Richie, confirmed that the newly launched website KidRockForSenate.com is “real,” and that he would be making another “major announcement” sometime soon.

While he didn’t explicitly list his intentions Wednesday, the picture he included with his announcement, the name of his website and the content on the website kind of fill in the puzzle, you know?

Take a look at part one of the announcement below:

Plus, Republicans in Michigan have been mulling over whether to run him on the GOP ticket during the midterm elections next year to challenge Stabenow, according to Fox News.

It doesn’t take a rocket science to put two and two together.

Whether or not he could actually win an election as a Republican remains to be seen, especially given his fairly moderate stances on a number of issues.

“I am definitely a Republican on fiscal issues and the military, but I lean to the middle on social issues,” he admitted during an interview with The Guardian two years ago. “I am no fan of abortion, but it’s not up to a man to tell a woman what to do. As an ordained minister I don’t look forward to marrying gay people, but I’m not opposed to it.”

These views could possibly present a big problem. With extreme progressivism on the rise from the left, Republicans have grown further entrenched in their social and fiscal beliefs, as evidenced by the following chart from The Washington Post:

That being said, Kid Rock has earned some major brownie points for his unabashed love for our men and women in uniform. Coupled with his support for the president, the rocker could conceivably manage a victory in Michigan.

Regarding abortion and gay marriage, however, his best bet might be to just avoid talking about these issues, because most Republicans likely won’t see eye to eye with him.
