Comedian Kevin Hart unveiled his philosophy regarding politics, and it’s going to make liberals furious.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, Hart explained that he doesn’t make jokes about President Donald Trump, or any other politician, because he loves people.
“The way that I see it, my job as a comedian is to spread positivity. To make people laugh. And I don’t want to draw attention to what’s already pissing us as a people off,” the comedian said in an interview with The Daily Beast.
Hart said the topic of politics divides people. He’s certainly right about that.
“Everybody’s not going to see things the way I want to see them. And they shouldn’t,” he said.
“That’s what makes us individuals. In that particular realm, I keep my opinions to myself. And like I said, if I don’t have anything nice to say, I shouldn’t say it at all. I’m not in the business of trashing people,” the comedian explained.
“I want to be a bright spot,” he added. “I want to take your mind off of whatever may be going on in your life that could be wrong and give you a reason to say, you know what? It’s going to be OK. That’s being the positive, motivating, inspiring person that I am, that I always will be.”
It’s refreshing (not to mention shocking) to hear a celebrity talk about avoiding politics because it is a divisive subject.
Other celebrities would be wise to follow his lead and stop making political commentary.
The comedian might be on to something. Keeping politics out of his routine certainly hasn’t hurt his career, as Forbes magazine reported that the “What Now?” star topped Forbes’ list of highest-paid comedians for 2016 at $87.5 million.
Hart is proving it pays for celebrities to stay out of politics.
