John Kelly Responds to Dem Who Called Him a Disgrace to the Uniform

White House Chief of Staff and four star general John Kelly responded to the Democrat who suggested he was a “disgrace to the uniform,” and he didn’t mince words while doing so.

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., criticized Kelly last week for working in the Trump administration after it announced its plan to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

DACA, an unconstitutional program that provided blanket protection to roughly 800,000 children, was enacted in 2012 by former President Barack Obama through an executive order.

Kelly responded to the criticism in an email to Fox News Sunday, where the former Marine blasted Congress for doing “nothing” for years to help Dreamers but now criticize Trump for giving them the power to act.

“As far as the congressman and other irresponsible members of Congress are concerned, they have the luxury of saying what they want as they do nothing and have almost no responsibility,” Kelly said.

“They can call people liars but it would be inappropriate for me to say the same thing back at them. As my blessed mother used to say, ‘empty barrels make the most noise,’” Kelly added.

Kelly said Gutierrez had the right to his own opinion, but made it clear he strongly supported President Donald Trump’s decision to rescind DACA and allow Congress six months to pass a legislative solution.

In his statement released last week, Gutierrez said Kelly, “has no honor and should be drummed out of the White House along with the white supremacists and those enabling the President’s actions by ‘just following orders.’”

Kelly made it very clear in his email that everyone he has spoken with agrees DACA is unconstitutional, and that Trump was smart to force Congress to pass the measure through the legislative process.

“Every DOJ and DHS lawyer says DACA is unconstitutional. Every other legal scholar — right and left — says the same thing,” Kelly said. “Trump didn’t end DACA, the law did. That said, I worked and succeeded to give the congress another six months to do something. I am not confident.”

Kelly, who served as secretary of Homeland Security prior to becoming the president’s chief of staff, suggested the do-nothing Congress chose not to take any course of action on the program since Trump took office.

“During my time at DHS – from 20 Jan until this moment – I have met with hundreds of members on both sides of the hill … My [message] always was ‘I have bought you time to do something on DACA.’ I begged and pleaded with them. They did exactly nothing,” Kelly said.

Republicans, who tend to forget they control both chambers in Congress, essentially have three options for handling DACA.

They can allow the program to expire, which some Republicans want to see; they can pass a bill granting amnesty to the roughly 800,000 Dreamers, which congressional leadership supports; or they can work with Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on an immigration reform package that includes funding for the border wall.

Echoing Kelly’s sentiment, Trump should remember Republicans have the majority — meaning if Democrats want a form of amnesty for the Dreamers, then funding for the border wall better be included in that package at the very least.

Kelly is an American hero, and he blasted leftist Gutierrez with facts, logic, and reason. We are a nation of laws, not feelings.
