While speaking at the SALT hedge fund conference in Las Vegas on Friday, former Florida governor and presidential candidate Jeb Bush proffered some free advice to President Donald Trump: Fire disloyal people.
According to Axios, Bush responded with the advice when he was asked what words of wisdom he would offer the president if he were sure Trump would heed it.
“There’s too many different interests and the problem with this is I’ve never seen a White House as leaky as this one … there could be 15 to 20 sources on a particular subject,” he said. “People should be fired if they’re disloyal to the president of the United States and leaking.”
Bush said Trump’s tweeting habits were useful for bypassing mainstream media to communicate with Americans, however, he needs to “stop tweeting” anyway, CNN reported.

The president’s tweets give “our enemies all sorts of nuances and insights” into the mind of the leader of the free world, Bush claimed.
While Bush was critical of Trump in his advice, he also gave him credit for making “really good appointments,” as with Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. Bush also believed that appointing former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel on the Russian investigation “could be a good thing” in that it will allow the White House to re-organize and get down to business.
The Washington Post, unsurprisingly, only focused on one aspect of Bush’s words of wisdom to the president:

The 2016 election and the Republican primaries leading up to it were among the most contentious in recent history. The months following have been just as contentious, with plenty of pundits and former candidates offering their advice.
This time, many of Trump’s supporters would likely agree with Bush and his advice to the president. Lest anyone be discouraged, however, Trump is not without common sense and great leadership skills that will serve him well as he forges on into the next few years of what will likely be a headline-making presidency.
