Jane Sanders Tried Evicting Disabled People to Grab Land for University

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and his wife Jane Sanders made headlines last week when it was revealed that the couple hired defense lawyers in connection to an FBI probe regarding Jane’s possible fraud during her time as president of Burlington College from 2004 to 2011.

Now, she is being accused of attempting to evict disabled residents from a group home, which happened to be on property that was part of an expansion project for the now-defunct college, according to Judicial Watch.

In 2010, the school obtained a $10 million loan to expand the college and disabled residents were living on part of that property.

According to Judicial Watch, Jane sent a “lengthy” letter to attorney Todd Centybear who represented those 16 residents, explaining her irritation that the individuals would not leave the property.

“It is simply not fair to expect the College to continue to carry the burden of the expenses associated with housing both your population and ours until February 2012,” she said in a letter obtained by Judicial Watch.

“The home for the disabled was being leased from the (Roman Catholic) diocese and Jane was supposed to help relocate the residents, not evict them,” the online watchdog reported.

The email exchange showed Jane’s “heartlessness” and her “incompetence as the college president for not ensuring the negotiated transfer of those disabled people before the school took over the property,” Judicial Watch continued.

It’s also worth noting that the loan eventually bankrupted the school in 2016.

Bernie Sanders is up for re-election this year, so the timing couldn’t be more worse for him. For self-proclaimed socialists who claim to care about the little guy, trying to evict disabled people from their home is definitely not a good look. However, if past behavior is any indication, this story won’t see the light of day from the mainstream media.
