A man named Timothy was sitting in McDonald’s drinking a Sprite. He noticed that a woman had been sitting in the corner for quite some time and appeared to be waiting for someone.

A man then walked in with a 3-year-old boy. Timothy overheard the woman tell the man that he was supposed to meet her there an hour ago.

The man responded, “Well, I’m here, and here he is.” The woman asked the man who was trying to leave as quickly as possible if he had a few dollars to spare so she could buy herself something to eat since she only had enough money to buy a Happy Meal.

He responded even more coldly than the first time. He glanced around to make sure nobody was listening and said, “[Forget] you. Starve.”

Little did he know that Timothy was listening. Timothy watched the woman go up to the counter to order the boy a Happy Meal.

He even saw the woman and little boy go to her car to dig around for change to make up for the the 37-cent balance left on her card. She and her son went to her car to retrieve the change before she sat down with her son as he ate.

She asked her son if she could have a fry. Timothy chuckled to himself as the little boy handed her one fry that he had just bitten.

Timothy was not going to watch this mother starve any longer. He found the teen who was taking orders at the counter and handed over his debit card.

He asked the employee to give the hungry mother two doubles, a large fry, and a large drink. “Don’t tell her it was from me,” Timothy said.

Timothy also wanted to give the mom a message. He took out a Sharpie and wrote on a napkin: “Keep your head up and always push forward. You CAN. You WILL.”

The McDonald’s employee took the tray of food and napkin over to the woman and refused to tell her who bought her the meal when she asked. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she read the note on the napkin.

As she and the boy left, the woman walked up to Timothy and whispered, “Thank you.” He whispered back, “For what?”

She smiled at him, and he winked. Buying the woman a meal at McDonald’s was just a small purchase for Timothy, but it had a lasting impact on the woman in need, not just of the food, but of the encouraging message as well.

Timothy later shared on Facebook, “This post its NOT about me buying her a meal. This post IS about seeing someone’s struggle and knowing that we all have struggles in our lives and that if you can help someone move forward through their struggle, you should.”
