Since two attempts at the job of leader of the free world didn’t pan out and the well has run dry on the whole donations for political favors gambit, it has been rumored that former failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has considered something of a new career path.

The Daily Caller reported that, following her devastating loss to President Donald Trump in 2016, Clinton has given thought to becoming a sort of spiritual leader for the American people. No, we’re not joking.

That news came from Clinton’s former pastor, Rev. Bill Shillady, who is set to publish a book of select daily devotionals he helped compile for her during the grueling 2016 election season, with her blessing.

The book is titled “Strong for a Moment Like This: The Daily Devotions Of Hillary Rodham Clinton,” and it will hit the stands at bookstores on Aug. 15, featuring a foreword written by none other than Hillary herself.

The Atlantic took a deep dive into Clinton’s purported spirituality and Methodist upbringing, and even revealed that she had at one point considered pursuing becoming a Methodist minister, though she pleaded with others to keep that a secret, as she feared “It will make me seem much too pious.”

This from the woman who supports the wholesale slaughter of unborn babies — at taxpayer expense, destroyed the lives of the women abused by her philandering husband, received donations and support from countries that systemically abuse and deny the rights of women, and blatantly lied and manipulated her way through a political career, paying no mind to the laws that prohibited some of her actions.

Nevertheless, the book of daily devotionals for Clinton is likely intended to aid in refurbishing her public image — which could use some help — by portraying her as a deeply religious person, one who wants little more than the chance to share her spiritual insight gained from the scriptures with the people.

“It’s been there all along,” said Shillady of Clinton’s deep and abiding faith. “The general public didn’t necessarily want to accept the fact that she’s a Christian because there’s so many critics out there about the Clintons.”

But Shillady disagreed with the notion that the book was intended to bolster or reframe Clinton’s tarnished image, and stated that the book was intended to be “inspirational” in that “She really found (the devotionals) so helpful to her in the midst of the contentious campaign that she felt that people would find some hope … from it.”

“Given her depth of knowledge of the Bible and her experience of caring for people and loving people, she’d make a great pastor,” Shillady stated, though he admitted that it was highly unlikely Clinton would attend Seminary or seek out a position in the Methodist church, instead, “I think it would be more of … her guest preaching at some point.”

Sure, sure. Boy, we can’t wait to hear that when it happens, said no one ever. As for Clinton’s becoming a pastor or spiritual leader going forward, we will simply leave our readers with this passage from the Bible, James 3:1, which reads: “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”

We can only wonder if that particular verse was ever included in the many daily devotionals provided to Clinton by Shillady. If so, she must have missed it.
