Thousands of NYPD officers gathered together in the streets of New York City to mourn and pay their respects at the funeral of Officer Miosotis Familia, who had been assassinated by an unabashed cop-hater with a lengthy criminal record.
According to the New York Post, their mourning was interrupted by yet another cop-hater who in proud defiance opened up the window of his apartment and blasted the infamous NWA rap song “F*** Tha Police” on repeat for all to hear. That person just got some really bad news in response to their action.
“This is the s**t we face every day,” one unnamed officer reportedly said of having the disparaging song blasted at them while attending a funeral.
TheBlaze reported that the music only stopped once 20 NYPD officers paid a visit to the apartment of the perpetrator, identified as 16-year-old Julian Rodriguez, and used reason and a calm discussion to convince him to turn off the offensive anti-cop anthem.
Though Rodriguez initially stated that he found it “satisfying” to blare the tune at the cops gathered below his apartment window, he nevertheless apologized, though that apology may have been spurred on by a threat of eviction from his landlord.
According to an update from the New York Post on Friday, it appeared that the landlord, building superintendent Danny Morales, had made good on his threat and evicted Rodriguez and his older sister from the property.
“I called him and told him he needs to take care of this right away,” Morales said of the actual tenant who rents the apartment. “I told him it’s disrespectful and they can’t be doing this. The police lost a family member. We all need to come together and respect that.”
The incident hit close to home for Morales, as he has a nephew who serves in the nearby 40th Precinct for the NYPD.
“I wouldn’t want to see him lying in a box also,” he told the Post. “We need to respect the police.”
The tenant, identified only as “Jesus,” told the Post that Rodriguez and his sister were “lowlifes” that he was only too happy to see evicted.
“They’re gone,” he said. “The case is closed. They’re no longer in my house. I don’t know where they went.”
This kid thought he could be incredibly disrespectful to the men and women who protect and serve the community while they laid to rest one of their own, but he found out that some people take being respectful towards the police pretty serious.
Unfortunately for him, the landlord was one of them.
