While Everyone Wonders Who Will TakeAKnee on Sunday Some Remember One Hero Who Never Would

On Saturday, as insults and threats flew between President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, a war of a slightly less dire nature was already underway.

It began when President Trump posed a hypothetical question to an Alabama crowd on Friday night:

“We’re proud of our country. We respect our flag. Wouldn’t you love to see one of our NFL owners when someone disrespects our flag to say, ‘Get that son of a b***h off the field right now … he’s fired!’”

Things escalated when the statements began to pour in from other NFL players, NBA players, NFL officials, and even Colin Kaepernick’s mother, but President Trump doubled down:

Then rumors began to fly regarding major planned protests for Sunday afternoon:

And some couldn’t help but remember one hero, Pat Tillman, who gave up NFL glory to put on a uniform. He laid down his life on April 22, 2004, in Afghanistan, in part to ensure that these players would retain the right to take a knee:
