Princess Diana tragically passed away 20 years ago. She left behind her young sons, Princes William and Harry, and the whole world mourned her loss.

Given the nickname the “people’s princess,” Princess Diana was loved by the people of her country. Her passing was heartbreaking for everyone, but most of all for Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Princes have remained in the public eye since the time of their mother’s death, which must have been hard for two young boys. Despite some years of turmoil and despair during the past 20 years, they seem to have found their way.

The Duke of Cambridge and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, now have two, adorable young children that are full of energy. Harry has spent time in the British Armed Forces, but now devotes much of his time to charity work and official royal business.

To honor their mother, Prince William and Prince Harry planned a special rededication ceremony at her gravesite. The grandchildren the Princess never met arrived with their parents for the tear-jerking moment. July 1 would have been Princess Diana’s 56th birthday. Also in attendance were Diana’s siblings.

The service was conducted on the island of the Oval Lake at Althorp House in England, where Princess Diana’s family home is located. It is also her final resting place.

Prince William and Prince Harry have also commissioned a statue to be built to commemorate their mother. It will open in August, around the time of the anniversary of her passing.

The Princes recognize how important their mother was to the people of their country. “When she died there was such an outpouring of emotion and love, which was quite shocking. It was beautiful at the same time, and it was amazing, now looking back at it, that our mother had such a huge effect on so many people,” said Harry.

Prince Charles was not in attendance. He and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were in Canada on official royal business.

Hopefully, the time spent at Princess Diana’s grave was peaceful for her family. She would be so proud of them if she could see all that they have accomplished.
