One day after a New York City police officer was assassinated as she sat in her vehicle, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio skipped the swearing-in ceremony for new NYPD recruits and went to Germany to join a protest at the G20 summit.
That led Greg Gutfeld, one of the hosts of Fox News Channel’s The Five, to label de Blasio “the worst” and later call him a “horrible little man-child.”
Republican state Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, who is running for New York City mayor, also criticized the trip.
“A member of the NYPD was murdered, a homeless crisis continues to worsen and our subway system seems to be on the verge of collapse and Mayor de Blasio has been criss-crossing the country pushing his national agenda, and now this,” Malliotakis said. “Taxpayers deserve to know how much this is costing them and why the mayor refuses to do his job.”
“Our mayor is neglecting his basic responsibility of managing the city,” she said. “He has no business being in Germany protesting. He should be here doing the job he was elected to do.”
Malliotakis tweeted a doctored photo of de Blasio on Twitter.

“While #NYC’s subways crumble, sex crimes increase double digits, litter on streets pile up & the number of street homeless soars… #G20,” she wrote.
Others on Twitter also attacked de Blasio.

De Blasio was to address the group “Hamburg Shows Attitude,” which was billed as a non-violent event. However, violent protests flared all across the city during both days of the G20 summit, which was attended by President Donald Trump.
DeBlasio’s office indicated that the mayor’s trip will not stop him from attending services in honor of NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia, who was killed Wednesday. Those services are scheduled for next week.
