A Few Days After His Cancer Diagnosis McCain Went On A Hike With His Daughter

A few days after his cancer diagnosis, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, went on a hike with his daughter Saturday.

Megan McCain his daughter, shared a tweet with a caption, “Amazing hike with Dad @SenJohnMcCain this morning. Thank you all for your best wishes!”

Along with the text, she shared a photo of the two of them sitting on a bench enjoying the beautiful view of Arizona.

After a last week’s surgery for a blood clot in his head, the doctors found out that McCain had a glioblastoma, an aggressive type of brain tumor.

MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, says that glioblastoma is type IV tumor, that rapidly spreads in other brain parts.

After the surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., McCain is recovering in the commodity of his own home in Phoenix.

McCain’s doctors said that the operation was a success and that for his condition he is doing very well. He now is exploring treatments options which include a combination of chemotherapy and radiation.

Meghan McCain shared on Twitter, “The news of my father’s illness has affected every one of us in the McCain family. My grandmother, mother, brothers, sister, and I have all endured the shock of the news, and now we live with the anxiety about what comes next.”

She said that they know how to deal with this because he had benign melanomas removed at least three times before.

Meghan also stated that John is the “most confident and calm” among the family.

McCain tweeted Thursday, “I greatly appreciate the outpouring of support.”

“Unfortunately for my sparring partners in Congress, I’ll be back soon, so stand-by,” the senator said.
