The daughter of slain New York Police Department officer Miosotis Familia, who was assassinated by an anti-cop lunatic in early July, poured her heart out during an emotional interview Thursday, revealing in vivid terms her final moments with her mother at the hospital where she died.
“I held her hand, and I said, ‘Mom, you’re strong, don’t go, I’m not ready for you to leave, please don’t leave, please don’t leave us,’” Genesis Villella recalled on Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends,” noting that her mother was unconscious and on life support at the time.
“And I prayed over her as well,” she continued, trying diligently to hold back tears. “I said a prayer, and I told her that I love her — that I love her a whole, and I don’t want her to leave us.”
She continued the interview by describing her deceased mother’s awesome personality.
“She was really funny, she was incredibly hilarious, she was really smart, she was erudite, she was very well spoken and well read,” Villella said.
“She was super positive and smiley. She always knew how to block out the negative; she taught me and my siblings that we should never let people to bring their vices or their negativity towards us.”

Familia reportedly left behind three children, including 20-year-old Villella and her 12-year-old twin siblings.
With her mother now gone, the young adult has now taken on the role of “protector and defender,” and it hasn’t been easy either for her or her young siblings.
“They’re taking it really hard,” she remarked. “We were all super-close to her, we were in love with her.”
What happened to NYPD cop Miosotis Familia and her family is so sick and tragic, though there is something youcan do to help. Please visit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to learn more.
But more than that, please always be prepared to challenge those ignorant souls who have been led to believe that the men and women in uniform who place their lives on the line daily to protect us all are somehow their enemies.
They’re not. They’re brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, human beings with complex lives and emotions who deserve much better than this.
R.I.P. to you, Miss Familia.
