Clint Eastwood Offers Roles to Veterans in Latest Film

In Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film, “The 15:17 to Paris,” the film icon has made a bold casting decision that should have veterans and red-blooded conservatives cheering in their theater seats.

Rather that hire actors, Eastwood has decided to have actual heroes of the event to play themselves.

Variety reports that Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos and civilian Anthony Sadler will be playing themselves in the film “The 15:17 to Paris,” a film that tells the stories of the three Americans and how they bravely intervened to stop a terrorist on a Paris-bound train back in 2015.

As reported by The Guardian, a heavily armed gunman opened fire in a high-speed train on its way from Paris to Amsterdam, but was subdued by the three heroes. There were no fatalities in the incident.

“We just did what we had to do,” Scarlatos said not long after the attack. “You either run away or fight. We chose to fight and got lucky and didn’t die.”

And now, their actions are going to be commemorated on the big screen.

The casting move is nearly unprecedented, the Associated Press noted according to the Washington Times.

The young men will not be full-on leads, according to Variety, as the film is expected to begin with the trio’s childhoods and their friendship, and eventually lead into the event that made them instant celebrities.

Now, will they give the same level performance that A-list actors would? Maybe not.

Regardless, I think most people will be joining me in wishing them the very best and watching out to catch this film as soon at it’s out.
