Democrats Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are wishing for the good old days.

The Dems got infuriated after President Trump issued a tweet criticizing them. Trump wrote he was getting ready for a meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” but didn’t “see a deal” to keep the government open because of their weak stance on taxes, immigration, and crime.

Schumer and Pelosi quickly issued a response saying they would not meet with Trump, but will still like to talk about a deal with establishment Republicans.

“There is so much to do. We are eager to get it done,” Schumer stated on the Senate floor Tuesday. “The President isn’t, but hopefully Leader McConnell and Speaker Ryan are.”

“Given that the president doesn’t see a deal between Democrats and the White House, we believe the best path forward is to continue negotiating with our Republican counterparts in Congress instead,” they stated.

Speaker of the House Ryan and GOP Majority Leader McConnell responded with a joint statement, saying: “There is a meeting at the White House this afternoon, and if Democrats want to reach an agreement, they will be there.”

President Trump’s Tuesday tweet made “Chuck and Nancy” popular on Twitter:

CNN’s Jeff Zeleny believes “Chuck and Nancy” attaching themselves to Trump is a bad thing for him, and cautioned the president that everything has “consequences.”

Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu also thought that this was in some way bad for President Trump:

But most of the tweets were mocking “Chuck and Nancy” for being too “chicken” to meet with President Trump.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders had a response to the situation in her style.
