It looked a little copy-catish for Obama to go ahead and visit China as soon as Trump wrapped up his scheduled tour in the region. After meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he stepped out and told exactly what Obama had shared with him in time of his visit.
On the other hand, President Trump took a total of 12 days to visit the region, and also met up with President Xi Jinping. In the aftermath of the meeting, Trump confessed everything went smoothly and as expected, bringing business propositions back to the U.S., ones that would bring plenty of job opportunities to Americans.
Trump and First Lady Melania also attended a dinner in the Forbidden City, a privilege no other U.S. or foreign president or leader had enjoyed.
Along came Obama, trying to prove that he still has some credit to be given as far as politics is concerned. However, we are all aware Obama never supported China in the first place, therefore he never got the same treatment neither there nor back home. Just have a look at how Trump was welcomed in China once he set his foot in the country.
Back in 2016, Obama was nowhere near close to the way he was welcomed in China, where he attended the G20 Summit. What’s more interesting, Obama wasn’t even given a staircase to exit the Air Force One, which caused him to jump off the plane- like the good ole’ days.
“The reception that President Obama and his staff got when they arrived here Saturday afternoon was bruising, even by Chinese standards,” The New York Times reported.
Taking all of this into consideration, it’s understandable that Obama would feel painfully inferior to Trump. Still, the man cannot take a hint and is still persisting with his engagements in politics.
Aside from the fact that he’s nowhere near wanted in China, their media outlets were quite harsh on Obama, almost belittling his petty efforts to make a significant change.
Namely, Xinhua only noted Obama “thanked Xi for meeting with him and appreciated China’s development achievements.”
Obama never once took the time to truly pay attention to China and the way the country had been supporting North Korea, both economically and in a military sense as well. Good old Obama believes he is the key political figure everyone has to look up to, even when his politics serve no one any good. By giving himself more credit than he deserves, he tried taking part in the political life post his leadership, but it was definitely a cheap shot.
According to Bloomberg Politics, “Obama told Xi that he was willing to play a continued role in strengthening mutual understanding, exchange, and cooperation between the two nations.”
Obviously, this is a serious approach on Obama’s behalf, although many have previewed it as a chance to undermine and belittle Trump’s leadership. I mean, everyone else got the catch and stepped back from politics after being done with their presidency, so why can’t he do the same?
Obama didn’t only have China on his visitation list. He was also scheduled to meet with the French President and do a few other stops on the road, which to Americans seem pathetic. Okay, the French may be Democrats as well, but sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong anymore -that’s just out of this world.
