Former Vice President Joe Biden is “considering” a run for the White House in 2020, according to his daughter.

“I hope so,” Ashley Biden told Women’s Wear Daily. Ashley Biden runs a nonprofit for criminal justice reform in Delaware.

She said her father has not made a decision. The former vice president mulled running for the White House in 2016, but stopped short of running after the death of his son, Beau.

For now, he is “busier truly than ever,” Ashley Biden said. “Right now his focus is on the (Biden) Foundation and Cancer Moonshot, as well as getting other Democrats elected. He’s not there. He’s taking it day by day after the loss of my dear beloved brother. … He’ll make a decision when that time comes.”

She said her father has tremendous energy.

“The man is sort of supercharged. So I think, if we get to that (decision) point, yeah, I think he will do it,” she said. “But a lot can happen in three years. You just don’t know. Life happens. God-willing we’re healthy and strong and we go for it. You just never know.”

“It’s a little ways away. A lot can happen in four years and we know this as a family. If he is in good health, knock on wood, and seeing what the landscape is at the time, yeah, I think he is considering it,” she said.

Biden has indicated he wishes he had run for president in 2016, said earlier this year, “I think I could have won.”

“I had a lot of data and I was fairly confident that if I were the Democratic Party’s nominee, I had a better-than-even chance of being president,” Biden said in March.

Biden has been asked about his 2020 plans before, but has thus far avoided direct answers.

“I may very well do it,” he said in May when expressing his concern with the current political climate.

Biden created a new political action committee in May, and his wife said that was a sign he was going to be involved in national politics.

“Joe is not going away and you know that, all of you. I mean, he loves politics, he loves what he’s doing and he said he would stay involved,” Jill Biden said, adding that her husband was “going to be involved in the midterm elections.”

So far, Biden has emerged as one of the more popular names on the list of Democrats who might run for the White House in 2020. A recent Morning Consult/Politico poll gave Biden a favorable rating of 74 percent.
