The left is in full force in the aftermath of Trump’s speech to a major Boy Scouts event in West Virginia. A sample of headlines illustrates the sentiment.
“Trump’s ‘Embarrassing Spectacle’ At Boy Scout Jamboree Panned By Former Scouts,” HuffPo blared. “Trump boy scout Jamboree speech angers parents,” the BBC helpfully reported, while speaking on behalf of all parents. “Donald Trump Turns Boy Scout Jamboree Into Political Indoctrination Session,” Independent Journal Review’s The Response opined. “Trump’s Boy Scouts speech broke with 80 years of presidential tradition,” WaPo sagely counseled.
It’s as if the press thinks Americans have collective amnesia, and citizens forgot eight years of a president who politicized rolling out of the bed in the morning.
Every major mass shooting. Police award ceremonies. A professor’s arrest. Trayvon Martin. Sports locker rooms. Speeches to America’s youth.
It seems like just yesterday that even CNN was acknowledging that Obama was the “most polarizing president in modern history.”
It must be that the press is less concerned about presidents politicizing events than one who is willing to openly attack the left.
The president certainly got the attention of Democrat loyalists when he asked a simple question: “Did President Obama ever come to a Jamboree?” The loud response: ”No!”
That’s why we don’t have a historical precedent for presidents giving partisan speeches at Boy Scout Jamborees.
“The Scouts believe in putting America first,“ Trump also said at Monday’s Jamboree, only to be greeted by chants of ”USA! USA! USA!” It takes a true partisan and international leftist to view this as insidious.
The pièce de résistance is the raving of Democrats who openly compared the Boy Scout Jamboree to a Nazi Hitler Youth rally:
Trump constantly speaks about loyalty. He did so tonight w/ the Boy Scouts. Hitler demanded a personal oath of loyalty from German military.

Trump has officially succeeded in making the Boy Scouts feel a bit like the Hitler Youth, which was made mandatory by the Nazis in 1936. https://t.co/9HhnQpzkA2

Trump is trying to turn the Boy Scouts into Trump Youth. https://t.co/zeooF8Mue9

I really hate invoking Hitler because it is sensational 99% of the time but god damn does he make this look like a Hitler Youth rally. https://t.co/AmQMoZ8Woq

You’re not wrong that Nazi comparisons sensationalize 99% of the time. Because Trump, as it’s ridiculous to have to point out, is not Hitler. And Boy Scouts, are future leaders of America who love their country and respect the president no matter what party he belongs to. The U.S. press could actually learn a thing or two from the Boy Scouts.
